altitude diving tables
A calculator for the depth for a sea-level table.
Enter the lake's altitude and your depth. The air pressure is lower, so a sea-level table reads this dive as deeper.
What the words mean
- Altitude
- How high the lake is above sea level, in metres. The higher the place, the lower the air pressure.
- Surface pressure
- The air pressure at the lake shore, in bar. It is 1.013 bar at sea level. At 900 m it is 0.910 bar.
- Actual depth
- The depth you dive, measured from the lake surface.
- Equivalent depth
- The depth you use on a sea-level table. It is deeper than the actual depth, because the air above the lake is thinner.
- Difference
- How many metres deeper a sea-level table reads this dive.
- Table row
- The line you open on the air table. It is the same depth, or the next line that is deeper.
