Batu Moncong, Komodo

Komodo

Batu Moncong, also called Toro Moncong, is at the western tip of north Komodo. The site is more often reached from a liveaboard. The dive is a slope, with larger coral blocks at 25–30 m. On the upper part there is a small wall. Its cracks are full of colourful glassfish.

Table coral, small fans, small fish, and schools of batfish fill the view. This is a calmer place to look for small animals. A yellow juvenile warty frogfish, about 5 cm, tiny shrimps in black coral, and the nudibranch Notodoris gardineri have been found. Not on every dive. The map lists about 5–30 m. Entry is by boat.
