Gamat Bay is a small bay on the northwest of Nusa Penida. There are bommies, overhangs, and sand. The shallows start around 5–8 m, and the wall outside the bay continues toward 40 m.
A dive is about 5–30 m. Visibility is often 15–25 m. The temperature is about 20–28°C. Current can funnel at the mouth of the bay. When that current is too strong, the site is skipped.
This is one of the macro places in Nusa Penida: nudibranchs, frogfish, and scorpionfish. From July to October, mola can rise here too, sometimes in a surprising number.

Macro life
This bay is deliberately dived slowly. For macro photos, use a macro lens and a focus light.
Nudibranch
Plenty on the bommies and under the overhangs. This is why a guide slows the dive down here.
Frogfish
They sit on sponges and on the coral. Do not put a hand on the rock.
Scorpionfish
They sit on sponges and on the coral. Do not put a hand on the rock.
An animal on this list is not guaranteed on every dive.
