German Flag, Komodo

Komodo

German Flag is on the south coast of Komodo Island. The water is cold because of upwelling, and the plankton is thick. From September to January, manta rays often swim at the surface along the rocks.

The bottom is shallow, about 5–20 m, and it is large boulders. Malabar grouper, potato cod, Napoleon wrasse, schools of surgeonfish, and red snapper shelter there. The dive is usually a drift. Entry is by boat.
