Letuhoh Reef, Komodo

Komodo

Letuhoh Reef extends south from Tanjung Letuhoh. It is large boulders and coral-covered pinnacles. This is one of the big-fish places in Komodo. A good time is the falling tide, when a counter-current runs north.

Enter on the southernmost rock that breaks the surface, then stay on the reef face. Around 30 m is often the busiest part: potato cod, grey reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, rainbow runners, dogtooth tuna, giant trevally, and snapper. From the surface the swell can look rough. Underwater it is calmer, but surge is still there. Entry is by boat.
