scr dive planning sheet
A calculator for the SCR gas, the bailout, and the oxygen clock.
Enter the depth and time of each part of the dive, plus the oxygen in the cylinder and in the loop. Then see how many liters to carry, and how much of the oxygen clock is used.
What the words mean
- SCR
- SCR stands for semi-closed rebreather. You breathe your gas again, and the unit adds a little fresh gas as you go.
- Cylinder FO2
- The percent of oxygen in the cylinder that feeds the rebreather.
- Loop FO2
- The percent of oxygen in the breathing loop, the gas you actually inhale. It has to be lower than the cylinder.
- VO2
- VO2 is the oxygen your body uses each minute. A relaxed swim is often planned at 1 liter per minute.
- Flow
- How many liters of fresh gas must enter the loop each minute, so the loop stays at the oxygen percent you chose.
- Gas used
- Liters of cylinder gas the dive uses. That is the minutes multiplied by the flow.
- L to carry
- The gas you use, multiplied by 1.5. That is what you carry, so there is a reserve.
- Bailout
- Open-circuit gas if the rebreather stops. It comes from time, the pressure at depth, and SAC.
- Bailout SAC
- SAC stands for Surface Air Consumption. For bailout, it is how many liters you use per minute as if you were at the surface.
- PPO2
- PPO2 stands for partial pressure of oxygen. Here it is the loop oxygen times the pressure at that depth.
- CNS
- CNS is the oxygen clock for the nervous system. One dive and one day each have a limit. The percent is how much of that limit is already used.
- OTU
- OTU stands for oxygen toxicity unit, the oxygen dose that builds up in the lungs. It grows as PPO2 and time go up.
- Bar
- The pressure at that depth. It is 1 bar at the surface. Every 10 m adds 1 bar.
