Shinwa Maru sits off Mansinam Island, Manokwari. It is a Japanese transport from the war, about 120 m long, lying on its side. The map point is −0.906, 134.1021. This is not the Cross Wreck: the Cross Wreck is a smaller patrol boat in front of the shore cross, a separate pin.
The depth is about 16–34 m. On the starboard side there are two blast holes. Cargo still visible includes dishes, bottles, batteries, sake bottles, and chopsticks. Diving helmets that used to be on the ship are gone. Visibility is often 15–30 m. The water is about 27–30°C. Go by boat from Manokwari. Do not take pieces from the ship.
The hull is covered in sponges, hard coral, and soft coral. Jacks pass around the ship. Morays are in the gaps. Nudibranchs are on the growth.
