Tatawa Kecil, Komodo

Komodo

Tatawa Kecil is a small rocky island southwest of Tatawa Besar. Do not mix it up with Tatawa Besar: this smaller one has current that splits and is stronger. The west side has caves and coral gardens. The plateau is about 5–10 m, and the dive runs to about 30 m.

Large reef fish are here: groupers, snappers, sweetlips, trevally, and sharks. Anthias are extremely numerous in the branching coral. Mantas are often on the south side. Dugongs have been seen, but that is rare. Entry is by boat. A large group is better at slack.
