Grand Watudodol is in Parasputih, Bangsring village, Wongsorejo, on the Situbondo–Banyuwangi road. The beach name comes from a rock at the edge, about 5 m high, stretched out in the shape of a dodol cake. Entry is from the shore. Coral is already visible from about 1 m, so snorkelling sees the reef too.
Before 2015 this area was damaged by fishing with explosives and poison. Since 2015 the coral has been transplanted. A survey in February and March 2024 found 17 coral species and 325 colonies. The most numerous was Montipora danae. The least numerous was Porites lutea. The reef zone is at 3–10 m. Transects were laid at 5–8 m, at right angles to the beach, 50 m long. This map point is the transplant station, −8.08613, 114.41809.
The water was recorded at 29–30°C, salinity 32, and clarity 7–10 m. The current measured on the reef was about 0.07 m/s, very slow. In the Bali Strait the wind and the current can still run hard on another day, so follow the guide. On the coral there are hawksbill turtles, starfish, ornamental fish, and sea fans. Do not step on a transplant.
